An employee misconduct investigation may sometimes result in a recommendation for disciplinary action against the employee. When this occurs it’s important that any action taken is thoroughly documented in a way that is compliant with employment laws. This protects your organization from lawsuits and provides a record for the employee’s file. If the employee is terminated at any time in the future, a fully documented disciplinary action form may become part of the documentation to back up the decision to terminate.
