Bad Medicine: Healthcare Fraud and Financial Crime

Bad Medicine:  Healthcare Fraud and Financial Crime

In early 2020 the US Treasury released its National Strategy for Combatting Terrorist and Other Illicit Finance. At the top of the list of illicit schemes was healthcare fraud.

With major cases like last year’s conviction for a USD $1 billion fraud scheme, healthcare fraud takes resources away from those who need them the most and the proceeds are used to fuel lavish lifestyles, corruption, and other crime.

Join Michael Schidlow, financial crime compliance advisory and training specialist, as he delves into current and emerging healthcare fraud schemes.

Webinar participants will be given examples of how the fentanyl crisis has been exploited by corrupt practitioners based on following the illicit transactions related to these schemes. This session will also explore healthcare fraud and money laundering investigations, giving participants insights into how to detect and pursue these significant and detrimental cases.

The webinar will cover:

  • How prosecutors and financial institutions can collaborate in healthcare fraud investigations
  • Opioids, “pill mills” and related drug trafficking
  • Case studies of successful health care fraud investigations and prosecutions
  • Tips and recommendations for healthcare fraud investigations that follow the money
